A funk rock band, currently made up of singer Anthony Kiedis, [Flea] (born Michael Balzary), John Frusciante and Chad Smith. They have gone through various line-up changes, but mainly based around Kiedis and Flea. Flea is one of the best bassists in history, with frequent use of slap bass technique. Hillel Slovak was arguably their best guitarist, but died tragically from a heroin overdose. They have released 8 albums to date. Their first four albums are the better but unfortunately lesser known material. An interesting fact about Anthony Kiedis is that he is of Lithuanian and Apache Indian descent.

An OK band back in the day. Anything after Blood Sugar is pretty much unlistenable-to due to the poor production - overcompressed and completely lacking in dynamic range. The songwriting might be good but there's no way to tell as the performance is butchered by some sound engineer acting on the decisions of some suit rather than trying to make the music sound good. Terrible live band as Kiedis hasn't got a note in his head.

Mother's Milk was an amazing album but I can't listen to those damn Red Hot Chili Peppers these days. I'd check them out live but Kiedis can't keep up without post-production.

A band that used to be good, but now they suck and are completely overrated and bland. Members of the band include Anthony Kiedis (he used to be a cool guy in the 80's, but he became too self absorbed when the Peppers became famous.) The overrated and bland guitarist John Frusciante. (Tell me, if he's such a talented guitarist, then why does he play such simple guitar riffs? You'd think he'd actually have the nerve to use his talent to create something more original and complex.) And of course, one of the most talented bassists of all time, Flea. (too bad for being in an overrated band.) Chad Smith (I don't understand why he is even in this band? He is one of the most repetitive drummers I've ever heard.)

Red Hot Chili Peppers were a great band back in the 80's, but after Hillel Slovak died, they have gone downhill since. They should have just gave up instead of making 6 boring and redudant albums and leave us with the 3 classic albums they made while Hillel was alive. Then I wouldn't be calling them "overrated".

i remember when i was 11 years old and i heard my sister blasting blood sugar sex magic and i realized, "...maybe this whole backstreet boys thing is kind of gay. maybe there is other music out there with passion and meaning but can still be fun, even crazy with amazing drum, bass, and guitar solos...." i dont think i have ever felt more passionate about anything else in my life. from then on i was hooked to the red hot chili peppers. i learned everything i could about them and had my own secret crushes on every memeber while my friends were fantasizing about their n'sync gods. this made me mature in a whole different way than them. so what did i do? i got new friends but i was also finding myself. i had found something that was beautiful, pure, and natural. it was something that i had just for me. i love the red hot chili peppers so much because they gave me something that i never would have had. i soon realized that young people (even at the age of 11) are capable of so much more than they are given credit for. for example flea inspired me so much with his amazing beats that i decided to learn bass. i never thought before that i could even play music. i have come to learn every bit of information about the red hot chili peppers that i can. they helped me to branch off into different styles of music and listen to bands that i never would have heard of in a lifetime if not for them. maybe if i had discovered them when i was older they wouldnt be such a big deal to me now but im thankful that they came into my life.

The bass player, Flea, is perhaps the best bass player of all time, and the guitar player, John Frusciante, is also a titan of his instrument. Undoubtedly one of the best and most visionary bands of all time.
